Synergetic Rubbings

Synergetic Pressure Prints

Exhibition by Robert Duchesnay at the Art Gallery of Concordia University (Montreal) from May 6 to June 6, 1987. A work based on Fuller’s theories in synergetic geometry.

Invitation to the exhibition Synergetic Pressure Prints

The forms revealed are a combination of Buckminster Fuller’s research in geometric logic and my own experiments in attempting to build a dynamic imagery using the most basic, almost subatomic, elements of architecture.

The synergetic pressure prints are made of diluted black acrylic on precut and joined Arches paper. The linear highlights are obtained by placing angular elements under the paper and pressure sanding the surface. The Arches paper used for this series originates from rejected geodesic dome pressure prints which were in situ rubbings of architectural details from the Buckminster Fuller geodesic dome constructed for Expo 67.
